What Is the GRE Good For?

It’s GRE season, and Discover magazine has a good study on what it tests — and what it doesn’t. Some conclusions:

  • Accountants never made it into the “blue bird” reading group.
  • Philosophers are the smartest humanists, physicists the smartest scientists, economists the smartest social scientists.
  • Anthropologists can read and write far better than they can do math.
